Swiss edge Germany in Hopman Cup final

Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic won the deciding Fast4 mixed doubles 4-3 (3), 4-2 over Germany to give Switzerland its third Hopman Cup title.

Federer rebounded from a close first-set loss in Perth, Australia, to dominate the rest of the match in a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-2 win over Germany’s Alexander Zrevev.

Germany’s Angelique Kerber beat Bencic 6-4, 6-1 to send the championship to the mixed-doubles decider.

Brisbane (Australia) International: Elina Svitolina secured her first WTA title in Australia with a straight-sets victory while Nick Kyrgios moved a step closer to claiming his first ATP title on home soil with a semifinal win over defending champion Grigor Dimitrov.

Third-seeded Svitolina beat Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-2, 6-1. Kyrgios had 19 aces in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over the top-seeded Dimitrov.

In today’s men’s final, Kyrgios will face American Ryan Harrison, who reached his third tour-level final with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Alex De Minaur.

Qatar Open: Gael Monfils finally won in Doha in his fourth appearance in the final, beating Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-3.

Maharashtra Open: Gilles Simon won his first major ATP Tour title since 2015 by defeating second-seeded Kevin Anderson 7-6 (4), 6-2 in Pune, India.

Shenzhen (China) Open: Top-ranked Simona Halep beat defending champion Katerina Siniakova 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 in the final.
