Fish fry: To celebrate the Lenten season, a fish fry featuring fried catfish, baked tilapia, fish sticks plus a variety of sides and beverages will be available from 6:30-8 p.m. every Friday now through April 7 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Community prayer: A prayer service dedicated to people affected by worldwide terrorism will be held at 7 p.m. March 12 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. The service will also include Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living” as well as a testimony from Thomas Kemper, general secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, who witnessed a terrorist attack last year in an airport in Istanbul, Turkey. Anniversary celebration: To celebrate its 131st anniversary, Ebenezer Baptist Church will host a jubilee concert followed by a reception beginning at 7:30 p.m. March 17. A silent auction and bazaar will take place at 7 p.m. March 18. To close the weekend’s festivities, an anniversary service will be held at 9 and 11:30 a.m. March 19. Cue a concert: To commemorate the 175th birth year anniversary of 19th-century Georgia poet Sidney Lanier, a concert featuring his poem “Life and Song” and music by the chancel choir in memory of Robert Shaw will begin at 7 p.m. March 19 at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. The concert will conclude with Lanier’s “Meditations of Columbia,” a cantata commissioned for the centennial of the United States, set to music by American composer Dudley Buck. These texts and musical works address individual and national morality under the providence of God. Free and open to all. Information: 1660 N. Book signing: During the Page From the Book Festival, New York Times best-selling author and PBS host Bruce Feiler will discuss and sign copies of his book “The First Love Story: Adam, Eve, and Us” beginning at 7:30 p.m. March 30 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. Tickets are $10-$15. Feiler travels from the Garden of Eden in Iraq to the Sistine Chapel in Rome and from John Milton’s London to Mae West’s Hollywood to discover how Adam and Eve should be hailed as exemplars of a long-term, healthy relationship.
