Duva Elaine Roth

-

ONTARIO – Duva Elaine Hinshaw Roth, a former resident of Peoria, Arizona, peacefully departed this life on February 8, 2024. Born on March 24, 1937, in Marshalltown, Iowa, Duva spent her formative years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nurturing the strong, compassionate spirit that would define her life.

Duva’s legacy is carried forward by her loving children, Phillip Roth (married to Stacy Walton Roth) and Melissa Fisher (married to Michael Fisher), her supportive brothers Darrel Hinshaw and Donald Hinshaw, and the joy of her life, her three grandchildren: Taylor Roth, Abby Fisher Crother (married to Caleb Crother), and Zachary Fisher.

In 1957, Duva proudly graduated from St. Luke’s Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Her love for caring for others guided her to Phoenix later that year, where she began her accomplished nursing career.

In 1958, she married Richard J. Roth, who passed away April 27, 2021.

Throughout her career, Duva dedicated herself to nursing, serving in hospitals, private practices, and rehabilitation centers. She touched countless lives with her compassionate care, yet, her most cherished role was that of a mother. She was ever-present in her children’s lives, from being a den mother to a school volunteer and a trusted carpool driver.

Duva’s faith and her love for her community was evident in her various passions. She lent her voice to the church choir, contributed her efforts to the philanthropic organization PEO International, and used her sewing and quilting skills to craft clothing, blankets, and baby accessories for those in need. Her handmade creations were also treasured gifts within her family.

Duva will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. As we honor her memory, in place of flowers, consider making a donation to Hospice of the Valley or to the Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City.

Let us remember Duva not for her departure, but for the love and light she brought into the world. May her spirit continue to inspire us all.
