Paul joins Board of Advisors on HBCUs
OKLAHOMA CITY — One of President Joe Biden’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black College and Universities will be Christopher E. Paul. That’s Chris Paul for short.
The Phoenix Suns 12time All-Star is listed as one of 18 individuals Biden plans to appoint to serve as members on the board.
“The President’s Board will advance the goal of the HBCU Initiative, established by the Carter Administration, to increase the capacity of HBCUs to provide the highest-quality education to its students and continue serving as engines of opportunity,” the White House news release stated Thursday.
Board members are:
1 Dr. Makola M. Abdullah, President, Virginia State University.
2 Javaune Adams-Gaston, Ph.D., President, Norfolk (Va.) State University.
3 Paige Blake, Bowie State University student (junior).
4 Thasunda Brown Duckett, President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA.
5 Willie A. Deese, retired pharmaceutical executive and corporate board member.
6 Patrick Cokley, Chief of Organizing
Advocacy and Learning at Civic Influencers.
7 Monica Goldson, Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools.
8 Brett J. Hart, President of United Airlines.
9 Taraji P. Henson., Actress, filmmaker and activist.
10 Beverly W. Hogan, public administrator, educator, community leader and humanitarian.
11 Lisa P. Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives.
12 Shevrin D. Jones, Florida State Senator

Paul has shown his support for HBCUs in multiple ways ranging from his ‘Why Not Us’ series on ESPN+ to “investing in and supporting organizations focused on empowering communities of color and advocating for the human rights of all Black lives.”
