GLENDALE – Gilbert “Buster” Peterson 94, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in his home at Morningsta­r Assisted Living in Glendale, Arizona. He was born July 6, 1926 in Cherokee, Iowa and raised on a farm near Larrabee, Iowa to Carl Peterson and Edna (Stevenson) Peterson and had 6 brothers and 6 sisters Growing up on a farm, he joined the Army when he was 18 and was stationed in the Philippine­s supporting WWII. After serving two years, he returned to Iowa for farming. A few years later he met Norma Harden in Cherokee, Iowa. After several months of dating, they were married in the Little Brown Church on May 5, 1951.

They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1955 and raised three kids. Gilbert was in the tire business and sold Goodyear tires for over 30 years. He was a Manager for Western States Tire for most of those years. He and Norma attended the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years. While attending church Gilbert Ushered every Sunday and once retired, Norma and he volunteere­d preparing all the pews for church services. He also served at a soup kitchen in downtown Phoenix. Gilbert had a passion to serve and help others. He was a loving husband and father and was married 63 years when Norma passed away in 2014.

Gilbert is survived by his three kids; Craig and his wife Debbie, Carol and her husband Steve Francis, and Clark and his wife Lynnsey as well as six grandchild­ren, Chantelle, Samantha, Hunter, Justin, Gabrielle, Joshua and four great grandchild­ren, Connor, Evan, Sedona and Jonathan. He is also survived by his brother Ralph (Dotti) Peterson, Sister-in-law Doris and Brother-in-law Louis Hammer.
