Thank you, senators, for skipping rally
To Sens. McCain and Flake, I want to thank you for not attending or supporting the hate rally here for Donald Trump last night. I understand you will receive hell over this from some supporters, but you did the right thing.
I guess the actual test will be when you return to the Senate floor. Will you take on tough decisions. For instance, is it time to shut down this president?
He instigates hate while telling everyone he is bringing them together. He undermines every institution, including GOP senators now.
Lastly, he has the nuclear codes and it is worrisome to most that he will use them. It is clear that he doesn’t stand for American values of the majority, and I think it’s high time you consider breaking from him. Please discuss ways to stop him or fully impeach him. Thank you.

Headline doesn’t tell the story of who actually started violence
Your biased Wednesday front-page headline “Violence erupts” hides the fact that the only violence occurred when the protest thugs started throwing rocks and bottles at the police.
The police did an excellent job of shutting down the thugs before they could escalate their feeble attempts to create a full-scale riot.
Your intrepid reporters also managed to find two protesters who tried to blame the police for the violence, claiming the police started it. Pathetic.
Your constant liberal bias that downplays events that don’t fit your narrative makes your paper a pitiful joke.

Newspaper headlines and editorials make left feel entitled
Shame on you, Arizona Republic. Your photo and headline, “Violence erupts” will do nothing more than empower additional violence by a few protesters. Fortunately, most of the demonstrators were peaceful and the police handled things admirably.
When editorials and cartoonists continually promote hatred and vitriol, the far left develop an entitlement mentality, resulting in the violence we now see in this country.

‘School choice’ is a touching soundbite with lots of downside
Those watching the school voucher controversy need to be aware of its political nature. This is not some grass roots movement from a majority of parents seeking a choice of schools for their child.
This is a GOP political agenda nationwide and in Arizona is championed by staunch conservative Debbie Lesko, the Republican legislator, GOP Governor Ducey, and the conservative Goldwater Institute.
“Parents should have a choice” is a touching sound bite but there is no free lunch. The price you pay for this is a bitby-bit sale of our public school system to private enterprise.
There is no mega evidence that unregulated schools of choice are better. Also the program is misuses by those who can afford a pricey private education.

The United States in the 21st century is all about easing up
Regarding Dan Bickley’s column Sunday about easing up on those who disrespect our flag and take a knee for the national anthem:
I’m sad to admit, Bickley’s right. America in the 21st century is all about “easing up.” If our immigration laws won’t allow illegal aliens to freely cross our border, let’s reform them, ease up and grant amnesty.
If our law enforcement officers are making some people uncomfortable, let’s ease up on crime fighting. And if half of America now chooses not to work, let’s double the number of those on welfare or disability.
As to that flag, and the anthem that goes with it, well, who needs that either? Since only 1 percent of America now serves in uniform we no longer have that huge cadre of Americans who fought for freedom, returned to America, kissed the ground and threw a kiss to Old Glory.
Hey, if you’ve never sacrificed, your heart’s not really in to flags and anthems, even if we did save the world twice and rebuilt the cities of those we conquered.
Not being perfect means always having to say you’re sorry.
