ROD HEIGLE

Ferrel Rodney “Rod” Heigle, age 67, of Fouke, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 16, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Heigle was born November 26, 1952 in Kennett, Missouri. He moved to Mississippi at the age of ten and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1974. He lived the remainder of his life in Fouke.

He was a retired farmer and taught school at Fouke High School. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Rod was a man with a sense of humor who liked to tell a funny joke and make people laugh. One student stated, “you had to pay attention in Mr. Rod’s math class in order to remember the joke he told.” He loved working on the farm, taking time to share and teach other people along the way. Rod’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed so much being called Papa and spending time with his grandkids. He also had a servant’s heart and would give you the shirt off his back.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Laurie Heigle of Fouke, Arkansas, his parents, Ferrel and Lodena Heigle of Fouke, Arkansas; his children, Joshua Heigle and his wife Kortnee of Brookland, Arkansas; Karla Watson of Texarkana, Arkansas; Russell Heigle of Fouke, Arkansas; three brothers, Garry Heigle of Garland City, Arkansas, Randy Heigle and his wife Joanne of Fouke, Arkansas; Todd and Kelley Heigle of Rolling Fork, Mississippi; his special grandchildren, Bradley Heigle, Madison Heigle, Lucas Heigle, Parkes Watson, Amelia Watson, and Jack Heigle and a host of friends and other relatives.

A celebration visitation of Rod’s life will be Monday, January 20, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas with family and friends sharing memories of this great man.

In memory of Rod, the family ask that you consider becoming an organ donor.
