Mount Vernon tops Hooks

HOOKS, Texas—Mount Vernon’s junior varsity squad defeated Hooks on Thursday at Hornet Stadium, 28-0.

Xavier Hardy led the Hornets defensively with 11 tackles, and Fernando Dixon added nine stops.

HOOKS, Texas—Hooks’ junior high teams defeated North Heights twice at Hornet Stadium.

The Hornets’ eighth-grade team posted a 22-0 shutout. David Garcia rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns for Hooks, and Logan Davis also had a rushing TD. Connor Hawthorne and Otis Richard added 2-point conversion runs.

Hooks won the seventh-grade game, 38-6, with Keyshawn Walls rushing for 145 yards and three TDs. Tamarion Smith added a touchdown and 2-point conversion, Jatavious Johnson ran for a TD, and Trayvon Johnson had a 2-point conversion. Kason Choate had a fumble recovery for the Hornet defense.

TMS sweeps Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas— Texas Middle School swept Mount Pleasant in an eighth grade A match, 25-9, 25-17.

Casey Graves led the Lady Tigers with 10 service points, and Bella Cherry added eight service points.

TMS defeated Mount Pleasant in the eighth grade B match, 25-18, 25-14.

Faith Lockett led the Tigers with 14 service points.

TMS toppled MP in the seventh-grade A match, 25-9, 25-16.

Kailyn Williams led the Tigers with 24 service points.

MP defeated TMS in the seventh-grade B match, 25-24, 25-21.

Aamireyon Moore led the Tigers with 11 service points.

Texas High’s junior varsity tennis squad defeated Pleasant Grove’s varsity, 15-10, to avenge a loss two weeks ago.
