Maud tops honor squad
Maud’s baseball team earned four superlatives on the 17-2A All District baseball team, while James Bowie had three.
The Cardinals’ Cade Townsend and the Pirates’ Bailey Obenoskey were named C0-Most Valuable Player.
Cameron Mills, of Maud, and Evan Barron, of James Bowie, were Co-Offensive Players of the Year, and the Cardinals’ Brooks Minter earned Utility Player of the Year. The Pirates’ Whitt Rogers was chosen Newcomer of the Year.
Maud head coach Joel Windham was named Coach of the Year. Linden-Kildare was represented by Dalton Alford as the Defensive Player of the Year, while Detroit’s Ronnie Potts earned Pitcher of the Year.
Linden-Kildare had seven players named to the first team: infielders Deuce Schuler and Nic Kunze, catcher Traccer Henry, pitchers Jacob Owen and Hunter Minor, and outfielders Trent Wert and Marty Johnson.
The Cardinals had four selections on the first team including infielder Gage Jones, catcher Payton Windham, outfielder Adam Roberts and pitcher Brian Blackburn.
James Bowie outfielder Dalton McBride earned first team honors as did McLeod utility player Mac Calhoun.
Second team selections from McLeod were infielder Trevor Deal, pitcher Randy Mason, and outfielder Zach Prince.
Representing the Cardinals on the second team were infielder Hunter Thomas and outfielder Josh Luther.
Four Pirate players made the second team including infielder Culen McIntosh, catcher Noah Woodruff, and outfielders Evan Williams and Jonathan Cody.
Joining the second team were infielder Loy Taylor, pitchers Devon Womack and Wyatt Morton, all from Linden-Kildare. Avery utility player Gage Braden and teammate outfielder Gage Hutson earned second team honors.
