Mercier, Roche lift St. John’s in Montalbano game

St. John’s 6, Westboroug­h 4: Brayden Mercier knocked a two-run homer in the fifth inning to help the visiting Pioneers (7-3) top the Rangers (3-6) in the 12th Greg Montalbano Classic. Game MVP Jack Roche allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four, and was perfect through four innings. Westboroug­h’s Justin McCafferty hit an RBI double.

West Boylston 12, Murdock 0; West Boylston 12, Murdock 5: Scott Krug cranked two grand slams in the first two innings, and Dom Renzoni was 4 for 4 with the other four RBIs for the Lions in the opener of a doublehead­er in West Boylston. Tanner Brimhall was 2 for 2 for the Blue Devils.

Krug went 2 for 3 with two RBIs to secure the sweep for the Lions (4-4, 3-3 Mid-Wach D) in the nightcap, and Tommy Kursonis (3 runs) and Evan Atchue (RBI) also had two hits. Steve Gauthier had an RBI single for Murdock (0-7, 0-6).

Oakmont 11, Tyngsborou­gh 1: Johnny Losordo went 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs as the visiting Spartans (8-0, 5-0 Mid-Wach C) won their second fiveinning league game in as many days. Will Gage allowed only one hit while working around five walks in his five innings.

North Middlesex 15, Lunenburg 9: During a 10-run sixth inning for the host Patriots (7-3), Colin Taylor singled in a run and later hit a two-run homer, finishing his day 3 for 4 with five RBIs. Brady Reardon also went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and drove in two runs. Chyden Chow that three hits, including a double, for the Blue Knights (1-7).

Grafton 14, Nashoba 6: Chris Kiesiner went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 2 runs as the visiting Gators (6-4) beat the Wolves (3-5). Teammate Kyle Brown was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Nashoba’s Chase Barrett belted a home run.

Valley Tech 8, Sutton 2: Max Pilkington was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Corey Magill went 2 for 4 and also drove in three runs to propel the host Beavers (8-1). Jackson Kehowski and Matt Fadden both smacked two hits for the Sammies (4-5).

Framingham 9, Oxford 5: Nolan Remington was 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs in a home loss for the Pirates (4-6).

Softball

West Boylston 15, Murdock 1; West Boylston 13, Murdock 1: Hannah Kursonis hit two RBI doubles in Game 2, Sammie Mullins connected for a threerun triple, and Kheira Ashey struck out

seven as the host Lions (9-2, 5-1 MidWach D) completed a doublehead­er sweep of the Blue Devils (0-7, 0-6). Ashey (3 for 4, 2 RBIs), Shannen Lushka (2 for 3, 2-run homer, 4 RBIs) and Zoe Chila (3 for 4) lifted the host Lions in the first game.

Wachusett 4, St. Paul 0: Caitlin Ciccone went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and a run, while Tiegan Walsh had a hit, an RBI and a run as the host Mountainee­rs (8-0) blanked the Knights (6-3). Shayna Bakun allowed four hits and struck out 11 in a four-hitter.

Westminste­r 6, Worcester Academy 3: Left fielder Katie Foley (2 hits, RBI, 2 stolen bases) turned a double play by throwing out a runner at the plate after catching a fly ball during a loss for the host Hilltopper­s (2-6). Teammate Mackenzie Berg doubled and scored.

Lunenburg 12, North Middlesex 3:

Lilly Grebinar hit a three-run homer in the second inning, and Sarah Viveiros was 4 for 4 with two doubles and two runs to help power the visiting Blue Knights (5-3).

Uxbridge 13, Hopedale 1: Erin O’Day struck out 13 and gave up two hits as the visiting Spartans (7-1) defeated the Blue Raiders (7-1).

Tyngsborou­gh 7, Oakmont 4: Carly DiMento, Kiley Hogan and winning pitcher Carly Smith homered to boost the host Tigers (5-3, 2-3 Mid-Wach C). Allison Hazel was 2 for 4 with a stole base and RBI for the Spartans (3-5, 1-4).

Boys’ lacrosse

Nashoba 15, North Middlesex 6: Jack Schartner connected for six goals with one assist, Jack Crocker scored twice, and Cam Reed dished out three assists for the host Wolves (5-2). Finn McNabb led the Patriots (1-7) with three goals.

Girls’ lacrosse

Algonquin 12, Dover-Sherborn 11: Bella Roman’s sixth goal of the game came in overtime as the Titans (5-3) prevailed at home. She also notched her 100th career point on her first goal of the game in the first quarter. Teammate Bryn Domolky had one goals and three assists, and Callie Klein made 11 saves.

Tahanto 18, North Middlesex 5: Alison Stevens finished with 11 goals and one assist, including her 300th career goal in a road win for the Stags (7-2). Teammate Julia Rubinow netted four goals. Sarah Swartz scored twice for the Patriots (2-8).

AMSA 10, St. Bernard’s 8: Emily Kazmiercaz­k had a hat trick, and Leah Trocki and Claire Sartor netted two goals each to boost the visiting Eagles (6-2). Evie LeSage collected four goals and one assist for the Bernardian­s (5-3), while Taylor Cormier and Alexis Sylvia each scored twice with an assist.

Hudson 12, Fitchburg 2: Layne Thomason had five goals and an assist, and Katie Perusse added three goals and an assist while lifting the host Hawks (2-5).

Tyngsborou­gh 11, Lunenburg 4: Bella Adams (2 goals, 9 ground balls) posted her 100th career point, Lillian Gikas scored four goals, and Katie Guilmette chipped in three to lift the visiting Tigers (3-5). Erin Peplowski netted two goals for the Blue Knights (6-2).
