Independent voice needed right now

The parallels with the Nixon White House and the Watergate cover-up and the Trump White House and the "Russiagate" coverup are too similar to ignore. They should be red flags to anyone with a knowledge of history. But, our president, who talked about Frederick Douglass (who died in 1895) in the present tense and referenced Andrew Jackson being upset about the Civil War which occurred 16 years after Jackson died, is obviously not concerned with historical details.

Trump’s arrogance and abuse of power is becoming unhinged and his staff continues to defend the lies and deflect the truth. All this with the support of Mitch McConnell and the Republicans. The truth is this administration and its president have the taint of Russian involvement on so many levels while the Republican Congress puts its head in the sand and is more interested in how the public found out about this instead of the fact that presidential policies and actions may have been coordinated with the Russian government.

Before we become a satellite state of Russia with an emerging dictator, we must have an independent commission, free of presidential influence, with resources to follow the truth and the money trail wherever they lead. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, independent or Libertarian, an attack on this democracy, our constitution and the separation of powers should not be acceptable and should be stopped.
