Police are asking for help in finding the driver of a silver Range Rover Sport that hit a man, then left him severely injured and on the road.

The crash happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at South Federal Highway and Lindell Boulevard in Delray Beach, according to a Delray Beach Police news release.

Police said Jordan Paul Parsons was crossing Federal Highway when the 2012 or 2013 Range Rover hit him. The driver took off as Parsons, 25, was left on the road with a “severe leg wound,” according to the release.

A nearby Delray Beach Police officer, Derek Chahine, responded and treated Parsons, who was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition.

Police said Parsons is a mixed martial arts fighter. Headphones worn by Parsons as he crossed the road may have played a role in him not hearing the SUV approaching, police said.

“It’s unclear at this early stage of the investigation who had the right of way,” said police spokeswoman Dani Moschella.

Photos released by police show pieces of the suspect’s vehicle that were left at the scene after the crash.

The SUV is missing the driver’s side mirror, and the vehicle sustained damage on the driver’s side headlight and surrounding casing, Moschella said.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the crash to call Office Dan Cramer at 561-243-7800 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-8477 or online at www.crimestopperspbc.com or by texting tips@cspbc.com.
