Video shows parking dispute turn violent; cops searching for offender
Incident happened outside a beachfront apartment building
HOLLYWOOD Security surveillance video recorded outside of a quiet beachfront condo on a sunny South Florida day suddenly turns chilling when it shows a resident getting violently attacked.
It was a parking dispute that triggered the beating and Hollywood police are searching for the offender who attacked a senior resident.
It happened about 10:30 a.m. May 25 outside a beachfront apartment building at 1711 S. Surf Road.
Officer Christian Lata said the resident told a man in a red T-shirt that he could not park his car in the reserved parking area next to the building.
“The suspect got irritated by the elderly man saying that to him, so he charged him and started beating him,” Lata said.
Surveillance video shows the man in the red T-shirt running toward the older man, knocking him to the ground, and throwing a flurry of more than two dozen punches.
One woman who is seen leaving the building notices the beating taking place and hurries back inside.
Another woman is seen in the video running up to the two men — in an apparent effort to stop the beating — and then walking the attacker back to the car, Lata said.
“The woman was with him,” he said. “She leaves with him.”
Detectives believe the two were driving a red or burgundy Ford Mustang, with the first character of the tag being an “E.”
