FAU adds Wake Forest transfer quarterback

The FAU Owls have added a new quarterback to their roster.

Tyler Cameron, a star quarterback in high school from Jupiter High, transferred from Wake Forest to FAU.

Cameron arrived on campus after he was accepted into the school’s graduate program within the college of business. Although Cameron graduated from Wake Forest earlier this year, he still has two years of eligibility and can play this upcoming season, which were factors that impressed coach Charlie Partridge.

“Tyler is intelligent and made use of his athletic ability to earn a degree from Wake Forest in just three years,” Partridge said in a statement. “It is that same drive that affords him the opportunity to return home and work toward a postgraduate degree. He will certainly add experience and depth in the quarterback meeting room.”

It is unclear if Cameron will play a significant role for the Owls during the upcoming season. he will have to learn the playbook in a quick manner during offseason workouts and preseason camp. He will also need to adapt to the tempo that Partridge wants his offense to play. He will begin fall camp as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart behind starter Jaquez Johnson, backup Jason Driskel and true freshman Daniel Parr.

Cameron joined Wake Forest in December 2011 as an early enrollee. He played in six games for the Demon Deacons during his sophomore and junior seasons. During six college games, Cameron was 17-of-40 passing for 140 yards. He has yet to record a touchdown pass.

Cameron approached Partridge and the rest of the FAU coaching staff after graduating from Wake Forest. When the conversations began, FAU had four quarterbacks on its roster after the spring game in April.

But three weeks ago, the Owls saw Greg Hankerson, their backup quarterback for the past two seasons, transfer to Norfolk State. The move allowed Cameron to join the team. He will compete for the starting job for 2016 season.

Robinson sounds off on ruling

A post on Plantation High graduate and current Minnesota Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson’s Twitter account highlighted opposition to the Supreme Court’s landmark decision Friday ruling states cannot ban same-sex marriages.

“Love is love? So what will we say when the 30yr old loves YOUR 10 year old. When the dad loves HIS 6 year old? It’s different?? Yea okay!” a message on Robinson’s Twitter account read.

The post quickly attracted widespread criticism on Twitter, including from former NBA player and social activist John Amaechi.

“3... 2... 1... until your idiocy is compounded by the obligatory personal revelation that paints you a hypocrite,” a post on Amaechi’s Twitter read.

Others used the hashtag #lovewins in response to Robinson.

A later post on Robinson’s account read, “When did we start defining a word by using that word? Smh. If you really want to know. Love is... 1Cor 13:1-13.”

Two additional posts on Robinson’s account read, “In the end EVERYONE has a right to believe what they want to believe. You shared yours, I shared mine. #BelieveiT

“As a Christian I love EVERYONE and I will always share my beliefs we may not agree and that’s ok. God is love, 1John 4:8.”

Robinson, 24, played at UCF before he was drafted by the Vikings in the third round of the 2012 draft. He has been outspoken about his faith and announced his commitment to UCF during a Sunday church service.

His Twitter account was open to the public when the same-sex marriage messages were first posted, but it since has been locked as a private account.
