Swish players recognized at event
The Starkville Swish were able to participate in the CYBL Magnolia Classic Tournament, an exposure event, in Jackson last week.
It turned out to be another good outing for The Swish, but along the way four players received some tremendous exposure.
Reese Jackson, Kylan Baggett, Hayes Halbert and David Harbour of The Swish were all recognized on the Southern Sports Platforms Class of 2022 Performance Standouts for the tournament.
Baggett is a 5-11 guard for Starkville High School, while Jackson is a 5-10 point guard for Starkville Academy.
“Reese did a great job of running the team and creating for himself,” Southern Sports Platforms Class of 2022 Performance Standouts analysis said. “He did a great job of orchestrating the team and getting guys into position to score. He looked sharp coming off picks and knocking down jumpers. Jackson had no problem picking up guys on the defensive side of the ball and played hard all weekend.”
Baggett played for the
Class 6A State champion Yellow Jackets last season.
“Baggett is one that I had a chance to see a lot over the course of the high school season,” the analyst said. “He’s a great athlete and it transitions well on the court. He gets to the basket often and can finish with either hand. Sometimes he can get into the habit of playing too fast, but when he’s on pace, there isn’t much he can’t do. Baggett brings a lot of toughness to the Swish and with his scoring ability, he makes for a great asset.”
Halbert is a 6-3 forward from Tupelo, while Harbour is a 6-7 center from Mooreville.
