DEVOTIONAL PAGE
It wasn’t long ago that I attended a funeral of a good friend of mine. Even though he was up in his years, he continued to have an active lifestyle and was very considerate and cordial to others. He was a leader among his peers and very well respected by all who had contact with him.
As the minister spoke of this man he stated, “When good men die, their contributions do not.”
This is so true for this man was involved in so many organizations and his legacy will be continued for years to come. His seeds of good wholesome living along with his faith in the Lord have been implanted on many, many hearts.
As Christ told us in his parable in Matthew 13:23, “But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
My friend’s message to everyone he met was to live for God. His stamina came from the strength of the Lord because many years ago he accepted Christ as his Savior and wasn’t ashamed to tell the world.
So many of us today take a back seat when it comes to talking about our relationship with Jesus. So many find it politically incorrect to stand up and be counted in the name of Jesus. Why are we this way? Why are we allowing rules and regulations to force us from our Christian convictions?
Another great statement made about my friend was “a tree is best measured when it is down.”
This man was a man of conviction for Jesus Christ and now that he is gone from us on earth his strength, courage, motivation, determination, honesty, and outlook will continue to be spoken about because of the life he lived.
Are we this kind of person? Will people remember us as being a Godly person who was upright and just?
Prayer: Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity to serve you on earth. I pray that you will guide me in everything that I do. Amen.
