AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEME­NT POLICIES

The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run in Around Town on Sundays only. One-time events will run as usual in Around Town Monday through Friday.

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆ Oktibbeha County Ministeria­l Alliance Meeting — The Monthly Meeting will be held June 17 at 7 at the Hilton Garden Inn

◆ SOCSD Summer Feeding Schedule at Henderson — At Henderson Ward Stewart Cafeteria, June 5 —July 14, breakfast will be served 7:45 am - 9:00 am and lunch will be served 11 am - 12:30 pm. For more informatio­n, contact Prudie Shumpert at 324-4122. Students 18 and under eat free. Adults accompanyi­ng students may purchase a meal. Adult Breakfast: $1.80; Adult Lunch: $3.15

◆ Roses Foundation Father’s Day Service Project — On June 17 the Roses Foundation will serve residents of the Starkville Community by helping to clean house and with yard work. Anyone interested in helping may contact Troy Hogan at 901-315-6719

◆ Small Mercies Animal Rescue —Small Mercies Animal Rescue is sponsoring a dog and puppy pet adoption on June 17 at the College Station/Polos Bark Park located at 110 Lincoln Green by the Veranda. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come adopt your new best friend. Door prizes and raffles. Help support Little Mercies

◆ Noxubee Nature Store — The Refuge's Nature Store will hold an open house and gigantic sale from 9 am until 4 pm on June 17. T shirts, hats, and nature related items will be available

◆ Noxubee Paper Cutting Workshop — Noxubee Refuge's Artist in Residence, Gillian Furniss, will hold a paper cutting workshop June 17, 9 am to 3:30 pm for youth 12 to 18, at the Environmen­tal Education Center on the Refuge. Canoeing, hiking, sketching, and paper cutting will be part of the workshop. Space is limited so please call 3235548 to register

◆ Canoe Day — Canoeing will be held on Noxubee Refuge's Bluff Lake from 9 am until 3 pm on June 17. Canoes, kayaks, paddles and life jackets will be available free of charge. Call 3235548 for more informatio­n

◆ Tenth Annual Sessums Day — The celebratio­n has been scheduled for 12:00 noon on June 24 in the Sessums Community Park located on Railroad Spur Road in the Sessums Community. ◆ Prayers with the Songs of Taize—Prayers with the Songs of Taizé is held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on the first Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. The service includes candleligh­t, singing, prayers, readings, periods of silence, and lasts about 45 minutes

◆ Starkville Healing Rooms—Starkville Healing Rooms meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Sportsplex.
