Arthur Ellis 56 Indian Head CPA, retired U.S. Air Force

Arthur Ellis has worked tirelessly to expand opportunities for all Charles County children and families. He helped to provide free learn-to-swim classes to underserved children, led an awards winning 4-H Robotics club, and sponsored field trips to area museums for the county’s youth.

He is a devoted husband of 27 years to Rosalind, a retired reading specialist. Their daughter Rachel is a CPA and national trainer for a Big 4 accounting firm and their son Myles is a senior Meyerhoff Scholar at UMBC.

Arthur is a four-year U.S. Air Force ROTC scholar and 1983 graduate of the University of Maryland. He served with honor as an Air Force officer, injured in the line of duty, and is now a disabled veteran.

He earned a master of science degree and has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Maryland for over 28 years.

In Charles County, Arthur led fundraising that raised tens of thousands of dollars for youth programs such as 4-H, NAACP Youth and Destination Imagination. Arthur Ellis is also helping the youth across Maryland by currently serving as president of the University of Maryland Foundation’s MPA.

As your state senator, Arthur Ellis will advocate for a world class education for every child by using computer-based instruction in core subjects of math and language arts. He will work to increase teacher pay in Charles County to retain and recruit the best educators. He will work to provide free tuition to all state colleges and universities. Also, additional funding will go to students who agree to return, after graduation with a fouryear degree, and teach in Charles County.

We need a safe community so, as your senator, Arthur Ellis will propose to upgrade and expand state crime lab by hiring more technicians and making crimes against children their first priority. Evidence must be evaluated within 10 days, not 10 months. We also need to increase the number of sheriff deputies in each school.

For transportation, Arthur Ellis will upgrade U.S. 301/Route 5 and Route 210 by having no traffic lights from Charles County straight up to the beltway. He will make the shoulders express lanes for commuter busses. He will also expand the Maryland Commuter Train Service, MARC, adding service to La Plata and Waldorf straight to Washington’s Union Station. MARC service only Mondays to Fridays, morning and afternoon ser vice only.

Arthur Ellis will then work to bring real Economic Development to Charles County with our improved schools and efficient transportation network.

Arthur Ellis will also work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for Charles County families. Through public and private partnerships, he will open Boys & Girls Clubs, build 4-H center in the south county agricultural region and build state of the art senior centers in Waldorf, south Charles County, and western Charles County to include exercise facilities.

As your state senator, Arthur Ellis will protect your medical insurance and increase funding for addiction treatment to end the opioid epidemic, to end chronic homelessness especially for our veterans and families.

Thomas “Mac” Middleton 62 Waldorf Farmer, current Dist. 28 senator

I have been blessed to call Charles County home my entire life. I’m a husband, father of three, proud grandfather, farmer and small business owner, and a strong believer in public service. It is an honor to represent the 28th legislative district and our community in the Maryland State Senate.

As chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, I have always focused on making sure working families have an advocate in state government. I will continue to bring people together to achieve our common goals because I believe our diversity is our economic strength:

• Put families first by leading the fight to raise the minimum wage, pass paid sick leave, require equal pay for women, and make child care more affordable;

• Fully funded education, secured new school construction and advocated for safety upgrades to our nationally recognized public schools;

• Provided seniors, veterans and our hometown heroes tax relief and championed efforts to lower healthcare costs;

• Secured tens of millions of dollars in funding to reduce traffic congestion in the U.S. 301 and Route 210 corridors;

• Protected the Chesapeake Bay, our natural resources and expanded the use of clean renewable energy

I will do my best to keep you informed on how our state government is working for you. For more information on my proven leadership, please visit www.MacMiddleton.com.
