Ganges Garden Club

Eleven members of Ganges Garden Club (Ohio Associatio­n of Garden Clubs) met at Seltzer Park Pavilion on May 12. Attending were Mary Barber, Joanne Claytor, Kitty Company, Gayle Davis, Sherry Huff, Kay Jenney, Starr Kessler, Charlene Kuhn, Barb Lantz, Debbie Sallee and Myra Snider. The program for the monthly meeting was a plant exchange. Each had brought divisions of various plants in her garden. Among them were sweet woodruff, sedum, sweet autumn clematis, shasta daisy, anemone, hosta, windflower, coral bells, iris and painted arum. Members chose the plants they desired to plant in their own gardens.

Noted during the business meeting, several members had helped with the flower bed at Crestview Middle School by planting flowers provided by the school. They would return and mulch the bed. Thank you's went to Fran Miller, Joanne Claytor and Mary Barber for this project.

Present officers agreed to serve another year in their respective positions. They are: President--mary Barber, Vice-president--myra Snider, Secretary--kay Jenney, Treasurer-gayle Davis and Asst. Secretary/treasure-barb Lantz.

Under New Business, Ganges Garden Club would participat­e in helping the Downtown Mansfield Beautifica­tion Project by planting large planters along Main Street in the Carousel District.

A bi-annual county-wide garden club meeting was planned for May 17 and would include all interested gardeners. The meeting would be held at the Richland County Fairground­s and include a speaker, games, prizes, refreshmen­ts and a tour of the Nature Park.

At the conclusion of the business portion, refreshmen­ts were served by hostesses, Debbie Sallee and Starr Kessler. The next meeting will be at the home of Sherry Huff on May 9.
