Childbirth is a beginning – so what will end?

There are times in our life when we are comfortable with our surroundings and hopeful that it remains that way. Sometimes, for us to keep things the way they are actually, it requires us to change some aspect of our lives. Although that may seem contradictory, it’s the truth. Everything is always changing, and we are better served to be aware of it and prepare. Go with the flow, so to speak. Births and deaths have been the subject of many readers’ letters, signifying endings and new beginnings in so many lives, situations and circumstances.

Dear Dream Retriever: I had a dream almost a week ago, and I am still trying to figure it out. I am expecting a second child, and in my dream I saw a strange lady dying during childbirth. I am quite confused. — FS

Dear FS: A strange lady giving birth is symbolic of the new beginning that is taking place within you. This does not imply you are going to die during childbirth; it simply is a reminder to you that upon the arrival of the new one comes an ending to other things.

Not to make you panic, but a certain aspect of you is going to die in a way — not on the physical level but on an emotional and mental level. The fact that she was a stranger means you are unaware of this part of you to begin with.

This could be an attitude, a habit or a way you look at a certain situation. There is an ending coming in some situation in your life, which is always the way life happens. For there to be a new beginning, something has to end.

What situation in your life is changing to a point where it is getting hard to continue to do? As you continue to make changes, that part of your life will eventually end. It could be that you no longer need or want to do this.

Although we are not always aware or even open to change, it is inevitable.
