FITCHBURG » The Department of Public Works advises residents of the following work that will be done, weather permitting, during the week of Dec 7.

Combined Sewer Separation/ Rehabilitation Project

• Residents, constituents and businesses are invited to participate in an informational meeting concerning Wastewater’s upcoming combined sewer separation project within Wards 1 &

2.

• This meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday via the Zoom platform. The public is encouraged to register in advance to participate in the live Q&A portion of the meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/ webinar/register/ WN_hxE8nQuSTW6n0Fq 0uV-H-w. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about logging in to join the webinar.

Citywide Water Meter Upgrade Project

• The city’s contractor, Baystate Winsupply, will be installing new water meters throughout the city Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Customers are notified via U.S. mail and asked to make appointments for meter re

placement through a website or over the phone.

Road Construction

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect road closures, delays and detours.

• Gas main work by Unitil/NEUCO, which may result in road closures and detours will continue all week in the area of Wanoosnoc Road at Meadowbrook Lane.

Street Sweeping

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.

• Spot sweeping citywide. Residents are asked to sweep sidewalks in front of their properties. Sand should be placed in windrows and not in piles so that the equipment can successfully remove it.

Maintenance Work

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Minor traffic impacts:

• Pothole repairs in all wards.

• Sewer cleaning and video inspection of various locations. Expect loud truck noise, localized detours and lane shifts.

• Highview Street sewer work: expect road narrow

ing, excavation within yards, and equipment parked in the roadways/in front of homes.

• Combination manhole separations on Cascade Street near Overland Street. Expect road closures and detours.

CSO-39 Combined Sewer/Drain Separation Project

• Work may occur on Rainville, Marion, Thomas, Fairbanks, Walnut, and Brigham streets. Expect road closures and detours.

• Repair water gate boxes at various locations throughout the city.

• Unitil will have tree crews working on Wallace Road and Water Street.

Hydrants

• Winterizing hydrants citywide.
