6 p.m. on TCM Movie: The Moon-Spinners

English tourist Nikky Ferris (Hayley Mills) is drawn into a dangerous adventure by a handsome stranger (Peter McEnery) while she and her aunt (Joan Greenwood) are visiting Crete in this 1964 Walt Disney adaptation of a novel by Mary Stewart. The film, which also stars Eli Wallach and former silent screen star Pola Negri in her final screen appearance, kicks off a “Treasures From the Disney Vault” theme night on TCM.

7 p.m. on CBS Big Brother

Host Julie Chen Moonves (pictured) kicks off Season 21 of this perennial warm weather ratings magnet, which bows with a two-night premiere tonight and Wednesday. After Moonves welcomes the new gaggle of houseguest­s who will share a house outfitted with 94 cameras and more than 113 microphone­s, the season once again will unfold in three episodes each week. Each week, one houseguest is voted out, until the last remaining player receives the $500,000 grand prize.

8 p.m. on PBS Tiananmen: The People Versus the Party

In 1989, a large contingent of students and otherwise everyday Chinese citizens gathered in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, demonstrat­ing for democracy and demanding a voice in their government. Their leaders responded with brutal force, culminatin­g in the massacre of hundreds — if not thousands — of the protesters. This new documentar­y from filmmaker Ian MacMillan revisits that horrifying episode, incorporat­ing archival Chinese TV footage, eyewitness accounts and interviews with other key figures in those events.

8 p.m. on A&E Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole

Ronald was 17 in 1999 when he retaliated against an alleged sexual assailant named Cordell. Ultimately, Ronald’s girlfriend abetted him as he brutally tortured then murdered Cordell near Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Given the heinous nature of the crime, both were sentenced to life without parole. Now 36, Ronald has been granted a new hearing for resentenci­ng.

8 p.m. on BRAVO Texicanas

In “Chapter 8: Independen­ce Day,” the Season 1 finale, Penny now finds herself in the hot seat at Anayancy’s charity event as the other ladies suspect that she showed Mayra the hurtful group text just to stir things up. Meanwhile, exhausted by all the drama going on with their female partners, the men plan a Fourth of July party where they hope several damaged relationsh­ips can be mended.
