On abortion: Looking into our hearts

How is there honor, gentleness or anything good in babies killed through abortion? How is this humane? Children do as we do, not as we say; what are they seeing? What are we teaching them by saying it’s OK to end a life? This states that life isn’t sacred, that a baby in the womb is an obstacle and disposable, that you don’t have to be responsible for your actions. Are we desensitizing them?
Mother Teresa said, “We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other?” and, “A nation that kills its children in the womb has lost its soul.”
I believe abortion is barbaric, unethical and inhumane. People can try to cover the ugly truth by shifting focus and labeling it “women’s reproductive health care,” “choice,” “women’s rights,” but abortion is still a homicide. If it’s not, what is it? This isn’t about politics, women’s rights, health care or political party. It’s about being humane and stopping a very evil thing.
Society has become so desensitized that many don’t see anything wrong with abortion. They don’t care that one method involves the fetus being dismembered, then sucked from its mother’s womb. We allow this to continue by voting for men and women who don’t truly understand all the facets of this deplorable act.
Some people who are anti-war and anti-killing, promote love and peace, protect the rights of animals, are determined to convince society that a mother’s right to choose to give birth or abort the fetus should supersede the cruel torture of her child, who does feel pain.
We have lost our minds and conscience, and narcissistically think we’re an ethical, intelligent and righteous people by contributing (through vote, act or support of ) to this morbid act. Who have we become?
The fact that many people aren’t willing to view abortion photos or videos of abortion procedures speaks volumes; I challenge people to watch them. There’s a dark silent cloud, a culture of death, that’s permeated the hearts of many who don’t consider children in the womb sacred. Ignorance and avoidance does not make this ugly reality go away. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Nothing is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”
My grandchild was born a micro-preemie, delivered early weighing 1.69 pounds. We were encouraged when nurses said, “This little baby is feisty and a fighter!” I witnessed how a child this size (not due for months) can feel pain and express clear vivid emotions like fear and the comforting reaction or expression of a loving parent’s touch.
Today, our grandchild is thriving. We must look into our heart and have the courage to be a voice for these innocent babies who have no fault.
