7 p.m. on ID The Disappearance of Susan Powell
This new documentary reopens the cold case of Utah wife and mother Susan Cox Powell, who vanished in 2009 at age 26. Her husband, Josh, was a person of interest during the subsequent police investigation, but he never was charged. In another horrific note, however, Josh murdered their two young sons, then killed himself, in 2012, after custody of the boys was awarded to Susan’s parents, Charles and Judy Cox. The police closed their active investigation into Susan’s disappearance the following year.
8 p.m. on HIST In Search Of
Host and lead investigator Zachary Quinto sets out to determine whether it might be possible for someone to travel through time or whether the multiple inherent paradoxes that seem to be part of that concept would make it impossible in the new episode “Time Travel.” In his explorations, Zach encounters a man who claims that he traveled to the past as part of a secret government program, as well as a group of people living in Liverpool, England, who are said to be “time slippers.”
9 p.m. on PBS The Great British Baking Show
As the title “The Final” suggests, this is it ... the concluding episode for this season of the series, the last one that judge Mary Berry was involved in. The challenges span a range of categories and ingredients, starting in the pastry section as the contestants have to create a pithivier. Then, fondant fancies put them to another major test, with a chiffon sponge giving them one last workout of their skill and patience.
12:30 a.m. on HBO Animals
The new episode “Pigeons” chronicles the bold, heroic saga of Wallet, a tiny yet defiantly plucky bird who leaves his home after a tragedy and finds his way to Pigeon Heights. It’s not long before Wallet rises through the ranks and becomes the right-hand man — um, bird — to Phil, who recently has been crowned Pigeon King. His first task is a doozy: saving guests at a bar mitzvah when terrorists take over the event.
