ANN HELEN FRIEDMAN

Ann Helen Friedman, 92, of Santa Fe died peacefully on July 22nd, 2018 after a splendid afternoon with family.

Born Ann H. Morris in Chantilly, France on May 4th, 1926, she grew up in England with her parents and two sisters. She graduated with a degree in physiotherapy before she emigrated to Canada, where she met and married Wilfried Friedman. They moved to Pojoaque, New Mexico in 1956 and together raised five daughters, Caroline, Diane, Wendy, Julie and Michele. Ann’s motto in life was “just do it”. She made adobe bricks alongside her husband, planted and tended a huge garden, managing the irrigation, cooked delicious meals and even rode pack horses into the mountains. She taught many Pojoaque children to swim, was a girl scout leader and a board member for the local school district. Family adventures included trips to Mexico and snow skiing. Later, she was an active member of the Santa Fe Rose Society.

Ann is survived by four of her daughters, 10 grand children and three great grand children. On the day she died, when asked by her great grand daughter, Tule, what the secret of a long life is, she replied, “Behave yourself. Travel, because the world is such a big place. Remember that life changes”. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to RESULTS.org

FIDELINA (BOWLES) VALENCIA DECEMBER 10, 1927 - AUGUST 3, 2007

Mom, your favorite song "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me, is so special to me. The music is beautiful, but the words are awesome. To "only imagine what it would be like to walk by His side" is unimaginable. Love you mama! Your daughter Joy

NANCY JANETTE MCREE JUNE 10, 1933-JULY 4, 2018

Nancy passed away at age 85 on Tuesday, July 4, 2018 at Mi Casa Bonita in Santa Fe NM. She did it on her terms surrounded by love and care. She is survived by her son, Mark Dowaliby and her sisters, Sharon Cregar and Kathleen McRee and their families.

Nancy was a wild rose. The oldest of three sisters, raised in a strict Baptist family that moved around a lot throughout Texas and New Mexico.

While loving her family, she rebelled early and often against her fundamentalist upbringing which set a pattern for her life of doing exactly what she wanted to do. Nancy became a college graduate from KU, a celebrated educator in Missouri, author, world traveller, wife, mother, & aunt. She lived through many heartaches, the deepest being her daughter, Kristin, who died at age 5. She also had the deepest joy of being a mother to her son, Mark. Nancy was known for her dinner parties and the beautiful food she would cook for family and friends. She affected countless family’s lives in her 45-year work in the classroom, as well as future students with her authorship of textbooks and teaching resource materials. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

The family wishes to profoundly thank Christina Simek, and the employees of Brookdale, Mi Casa Bonita, and Ambercare for their skillful love & care in the very difficult and challenging last few years.
