Santa Fe man accused of raping woman

-

City police are holding a 45-year-old Santa Fe man accused of raping a woman after offering her a ride on the city’s southwest side.

An officer wrote in an affidavit that the woman arrived at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center on Sunday evening complaining of lower abdominal pain and said she was sexually assaulted by a man from whom she had accepted a ride. She later identified the man as Raul Francisco Dominguez-Sosa.

The woman told police that she left her residence in Tierra Contenta around 7 p.m. Sunday and walked toward the Santa Fe Place mall to buy her mother a birthday gift.

She told police that when the man pulled over his truck and asked if she wanted a ride, she agreed. But the man did not take her to the mall, according to an affidavit, instead taking her to his residence. The document says he showed her a vehicle she could use but that first she would have to “do some things.” He told her to take her clothes off, and then forced her into sexual acts against her will, according to the affidavit.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Fe County jail on a no-bond hold Monday night, and prosecutors on Tuesday got a Santa Fe County magistrate to delay his first court appearance while they determine whether to argue that he should remain in jail pending trial.

Dominguez-Sosa faces a second-degree felony count of criminal sexual penetration and a third-degree felony charge of false imprisonment. Court records did not list an attorney for Dominguez-Sosa as of Tuesday night.
