Scheduled performers include the Beach Boys, Trace Adkins, Renee Fleming, Katharine McPhee, Alfie Boe, S. Epatha Merkerson, Esai Morales and the final winner of American Idol, Trent Harmon. 7 p.m. on ABC Movie: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets A mysterious force threatens Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the totally captivatin­g second movie adapted from J.K. Rowling’s novels (and directed again by Chris Columbus). Harry, Ron and Hermione (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson) must find out what is causing people known as Mudbloods to become petrified — or else, the school will be closed. Robbie Coltrane, Kenneth Branagh and Richard Harris co-star in this 2002 tale. 8 p.m. on NBC American Ninja Warrior Resetting the stage for the show’s season premiere on Wednesday, this first “All Stars” edition sees some previous competitor­s return to serve on five-person teams chosen by series hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiami­la. For what’s meant to be a bigger competitio­n, the obstacles also are bigger — including a giant peg board, a Salmon Ladder that extends 40 feet, the Flying Shelf Grab, the Jump Hang and the “Mega Wall.” 8 p.m. on USA Motive After sleazy tabloid photograph­er Eric Sharpe (guest star Ryan Robbins, Arrow) wakes up from a night of wild partying to find an assistant (guest star Katie Boland, Reign) lying dead next to him, he becomes the prime suspect in her murder. As Angie (Kristin Lehman) investigat­es, however, she begins to doubt Eric’s guilt, coming around to the suspicion that someone even closer to the victim actually is the guilty party, in the new “Best Enemies.” 11:30 p.m. on HBO Veep In a new episode with the provocativ­e (and unprintabl­e) title “C...gate,” Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is confronted with an important decision as the United States hovers on the brink of a major financial meltdown. Meanwhile, Amy (Anna Chlumsky) investigat­es the staff and Jonah (Timothy Simons) finds himself back in New Hampshire.
