Pelicans hand Raptors 2nd loss

E’Twaun Moore doesn’t need much to get on a roll.

“I hit one and I feel like I’m on fire,” he joked.

Then he helped cool off the Raptors.

Anthony Davis had 25 points and a season-high 20 rebounds, Moore scored a season-high 30 points and the Pelicans won in Toronto 126110 on Monday night, snapping the Raptors’ winning streak at six games.

Moore connected on 13 of 18 attempts, going 3-for-5 from three-point range.

“Without his performanc­e, we don’t win this game,” Davis said. “Once he gets hot, he gets hot. It opened up a lot of things for our team.”

Moore was 5-for-6 in the first quarter and made sure the Raptors would not mount a rally in the fourth by making five of his final six shots.

Jrue Holiday had 29 points and matched a season high with 14 assists, and Julius Randle added 17 points and 12 rebounds as New Orleans won its third straight following a sixgame losing streak.

Pascal Siakam scored 22 points, Leonard had 20 and Serge Ibaka had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Raptors. Toronto entered with an NBAbest 12-1 record but allowed a season high in points.

Many in the sellout crowd of 19,800 headed for the exits after Leonard committed a turnover with 4:05 remaining and the Pelicans up 118-104.

“We let them get to where they wanted to on the court,” Toronto’s Kyle Lowry said. “We just didn’t play our brand of basketball.”

Kings made 104, a Spurs tie-breaking 99: Iman jumper Shumpert with 4:05 left, De’Aaron Fox and Nemanja Bjelica followed with three-pointers, and host Sacramento pulled away to end a 14-game losing streak to San Antonio.

Timberwolv­es Towns 120, had 25 Nets points 113: and KarlAnthon­y a season-high 21 rebounds, and host Minnesota won after finally trading Jimmy Butler. Brooklyn lost leading scorer Caris LeVert to what appeared to be a severe right leg injury late in the first half. Jeff Teague scored 24 points for the Timberwolv­es, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

76ers scored rebounds, 124, 35 points and Heat visiting and 114: grabbed Joel Philadelph­ia Embiid 18 added to Miami’s early-season struggles. JJ Redick scored 25 points, Furkan Korkmaz scored 16 and Ben Simmons and Mike Muscala each had 13 for the 76ers. Goran Dragic scored 22 points for Miami, which has dropped three straight, all at home.

Jazz 96, Grizzlies 88: Joe Ingles scored 19 points, Rudy Gobert added 15 points and 16 rebounds and visiting Utah won its third straight. The Jazz broke open a close game in the final six minutes with a 14-5 run.

Thunder 118, Suns 101: Paul George matched his season high with 32 points and went 6-for-10 from threepoint range, Dennis Schroder added 20 points and nine assists, and host Oklahoma City beat Phoenix.

Wizards 117, Magic 109: John Wall had 25 points and 10 assists, Bradley Beal added 21 points and host Washington won consecutiv­e games for the first time this season.

Mavericks 103, Bulls 98: Harrison Barnes scored a season-high 23 points and Dallas overcame a sluggish performanc­e by prized rookie Luka Doncic to win in Chicago. Doncic, the leading scorer among NBA rookies, shot 3-for-12 and finished with 11 points. Zach LaVine led Chicago with 26 points. The Bulls said they expect forward Lauri Markkanen to miss more time than initially anticipate­d, now nine to 11 weeks, because of a left elbow injury in the preseason.
