Cardinals’ next goal: division

-

A 23- 20 win over Minnesota clinched a playoff berth for the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night. Now, they’re looking to fly much higher.

“Somebody texted me, ‘ Hey, you punched your ticket,’ ” head coach Bruce Arians said Friday. “I said, ‘ Yeah, we’re trying to upgrade to first class.’ ”

At 11- 2 and winner of seven straight, Arizona has its eye on the No. 2 seed in the NFC and the first- round playoff bye that goes with it.

The Cardinals are 31⁄2 games up on secondplace Seattle in the NFC West and 21⁄2 ahead of their closest competitor for that No. 2 seed, the Green Bay Packers. The Carolina Panthers ( 12- 0) are undefeated and hold the top spot.

A Seattle loss Sunday would clinch the NFC West for the Cardinals.

Giants waive Moore: The New York Giants waived defensive end Damontre Moore. General manager Jerry Reese announced the move Friday, saying it was in the best interest of both parties.

Moore was in his third season with the team and had played in 11 of the Giants’ 12 games. He was inactive against Dallas on Oct. 25 after head coach Tom Coughlin benched him for a late hit on a quarterback against Philadelphia the prior week.

Moore had 17 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and five specialteams tackles this season. He had a seasonhigh five tackles ( three solo) plus a special- teams tackle Sunday against the Jets. His other big game was a two- sack performance with a forced fumble in a win over the 49ers on Oct. 11.

Briefly: Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis fully participated in practice for the first time since suffering a concussion three weeks ago. ... Pittsburgh wide receiver Antonio Brown was fined $ 11,576 by the NFL for jumping on the goalpost while celebrating a touchdown against Indianapolis on Sunday night.
