Born on June 11, 1916 in Parlier, California. George passed away peacefully on May 27, 2012 at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Clara, whom he dearly missed since her passing in 2001. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Janice (Harvey) Tahara, Gayle (Rick) Inada, and Lynn (Steve) Chung, his 6 grandchild­ren Cori Tahara, Cristin-Tahara-Martin, Evan Inada, Rya Inada, Derrick Chung, and Collin Chung, and 2 great grandchild­ren Jayden and Gavin Martin. He is also survived by brothers Henry (Akiko) and Frank, sister Shizumi and preceded in death by sister, Sachiko. After graduation from USC School of Business Management and the onset of World War II, he was interned at Gila River, Arizona Relocation Center from 1940-42, then served in the U.S. Army from 1943-44. George worked in the Federal Civil Service for 30 years and retired in 1979 as the Executive Director of the U.S. Navy Regional Finance Center in San Francisco. George considered the Buddhist Church of Oakland his "second home." He was church president from 1963-64, taught Sunday school for 10 years, was a member of the Oakland Ohara Ikebana class, and senior club, Momiji-kai since it's inception in 1983. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, spending time with friends, but his real love of life was his family. He truly lived a life of gratitude. Special thanks to his caregivers, "Jun" and "Tess." Memorial service will be held at the Buddhist Church of Oakland, 825 Jackson Street, Oakland, CA on June 9, 2012 at 4:00 P.M.
