Mar 28, 1918 - May 27,2012 Born in Marquez, New Mexico in 1918, Andrea Garcia Hyder, aged 94, passed away surrounded by her family on May 27, 2012. The youngest of 18 children born to Bonafacio Garcia and Juanita Garcia, she spent her childhood on her family's farm in the high desert surrounded by the Sandia and Manzano Mountains. Andrea was educated in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. Andrea met her husband of 39 years, Gilfred Hyder at a local dance when she was 18 years old. Andrea and Gilfred were married in 1937 and they raised three children: Juanita Roomian (Robert), Rebecca Young (Robert) and John Hyder (Kay). The family moved to Los Angeles but eventually settled in San Francisco. Andrea was a proud member of the Butchers Local #101, worked at the historic Grant Market in downtown San Francisco and retired from Petrini's Market after working for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Andrea was an active member of the Doelger Senior Center in Daly City, CA for 28 years. Andrea spent her retirement with family and friends and traveled the world. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Gilfred and son John and will be missed by her adored grandchild­ren: Mark (Suzanne), Alicia, Chris (Therese), Matthew (Jackie), Jason, and Angela (Brandon) and great grandchild­ren Victoria, Bianca, Brayden, Audrey, Tessa, Christine, and Shane. The family thanks Monica M. and Lima M. for their superb, care-giving services in 2010-2012, also the Nazareth Classic Care Communitie­s and the Stanford Hospital staff for their exceptiona­l attention and loving care.
