REDZONE HALTED BY A FIRE ALARM

-

Sunday’s airing of the late afternoon games on the NFL RedZone Channel literally went code red.

The broadcast was interrupted Sunday when a fire alarm went off in the NFL Network building, which is located across the street from SoFi Stadium in the Hollywood Park complex.

Host Scott Hanson informed viewers that his production crew had to evacuate the studio.

An NFL Network official said there had been a false alarm at the studio. The alarm did not affect pregame preparations for the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers across the street. Hanson referred to the incident as a “first in my 20something-year broadcasting career.”

RedZone remained on the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills before Hanson and his crew were able to return to the studio a short time later.

“As we come back into the studio right now, I am reminded of an old Chinese proverb, which says: ‘May you live to see interesting times,’ ” Hanson said when he came back on the air.

Henry’s milestones

Derrick Henry’s second rush of the Titans’ 17-10 victory over the Panthers, a 5yarder, put him over 9,000 yards rushing for his career and the 38th player in NFL history to reach that mark.

Henry also has at least 80 TDs rushing before turning 30, putting him in even more exclusive company as the eighth with that combination. He joined Adrian Peterson, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, LaDainian Tomlinson, Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk.

Injuries

Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson was inactive with a groin injury for Sunday’s game against Buffalo.

Johnson woke up Sunday with soreness in his groin and received treatment. He tested the injury pregame but ultimately could not play.

• The Saints were limited by injury problems at wide receiver after losing Mission Hills’ Chris Olave (concussion) and Mt. Carmel’s Rashid Shaheed (thigh).

• Patriots’ receiver Demario Douglas sustained an apparent concussion on fourth-quarter punt return and was ruled out.

• Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson left with a knee injury in the first quarter. It’s the same knee Robinson injured in 2018.
