Marlins 3, Phillies 0: Edward Cabrera pitched effectivel­y into the sixth inning, Tanner Scott worked into and out of trouble in the ninth, and visiting Miami ended Philadelph­ia’s seven-game winning streak. Cabrera (3-1) struck out six and walked two in 52⁄3 innings and combined with three relievers on a seven-hitter.

Rockies 8, Cardinals 6: Brendan Rodgers and Ryan McMahon hit back-to-back home runs in a six-run seventh inning, and Colorado held off visiting St. Louis. The Rockies overcame three more hits from Paul Goldschmid­t, including his 27th home run.

Diamondbac­ks 9, Pirates 3: Emmanuel Rivera homered and hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to help blow open a close game as host Arizona beat Pittsburgh. Kevin Ginkel (1-0) got two outs in the seventh inning for his first win since 2019.

Cubs 4, Reds 2: Drew Smyly struck out nine in five scoreless innings, and Chicago beat Cincinnati in Major League Baseball’s second annual “Field of Dreams” game in Dyersville, Iowa. Seiya Suzuki reached three times and Nick Madrigal had three hits for Chicago in a throwback ballpark a short walk away from the main field for the beloved 1989 movie. Ian Happ had two hits and drove in a run.

WEDNESDAY’S LATE RESULTS

Pirates 6, Diamondbac­ks 4: Rodolfo Castro had two hits to spark the offense one night after a smartphone faux pas, and visiting Pittsburgh beat Arizona.

(IL) Dodgers 8, Twins 5: Chris Taylor hit the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, Joey Gallo added a three-run shot in the seventh and host Los Angeles extended its season-high winning streak to 10 games.
