Crime Stoppers San Antonio is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads police to whoever ran over and killed Reymundo “Rey” Solis near San Antonio College and then fled the scene.

Solis, 38, was crossing North Main around 2 a.m. July 1 when he was struck by a car heading south on Main. Solis was crossing the street at West Park on his way to the garage where he’d parked his car.

He was rushed by ambulance to the San Antonio Military Medical Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, where he died.

The hit-and-run motorist was in a gray or silver Honda Accord from a model year between 2018 and 2022, police said.

Solis worked at an assisting living facility and loved dancing with the residents, family members said.

He was born in Illinois, grew up in Starr County and spent most of his adult life in San Antonio.

“Rey was an old soul. A very intuitive and spiritual person,” family members wrote in an obituary. “He was extremely funny and had the energy to light up the room with laughter. Anyone who knew Rey knew of his incredible dancing skills. He used dance to bring joy unto others. Caring for the elderly was his passion. He made long lasting bonds with his residents.

“Most of all Rey was a very social, friendly person who was welcoming and endearing to people from all walks of life.”

The Crime Stoppers reward is for information leading to the “identification and location” of the hit-and-run driver. To provide information confidentially, call Crime Stoppers at 210-224STOP (7867) or text “Tip 127” plus your tip to CRIMES (274637). To be eligible for a reward, tips must be submitted directly to Crime Stoppers. The organization pays cash rewards for “anonymous, crime-solving tips ... that concern information not previously provided to or known by law enforcement.”

Under Texas law, failure to stop and render aid is a seconddegree felony if the accident caused a death. Someone convicted of the offense can be sentenced to two to 20 years behind bars and fined as much as $10,000.
