An Auburn Hills woman charged along with her boyfriend in the strangulation death of her college roommate in Georgia returns to court for a pretrial hearing March 30.

A trial date has not yet been set for Jordyn Jones and her boyfriend Barron Brantley of Atlanta, Georgia, facing multiple charges in the Oct. 31 death of Alexis Crawford who prosecutors believe was killed at the apartment the two women shared. Jones, who had a Facebook account that said she attended Avondale High School, was a student at Clark Atlanta University along with Crawford at the time of the murder. A 6-count indictment from Fulton Superior Court in Georgia charges Jones with murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and concealing the death of another. Brantley faces the same charges along with a seventh count of aggravated sodomy. Crawford’s family reported her missing on Nov. 1. Jones led them to Crawford’s body at an Atlantaarea park one week later.

A detective testifying in a preliminary exam broadcast by 11Alive said Brantley admitted to choking Crawford and Jones helped kill her by putting a garbage bag over her head. According to Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, Crawford died from asphyxiation. On Oct. 27 — a few days before she was killed — Crawford made a police report about Brantley touching her inappropriately. She said that she, Crawford and Brantley had been drinking the night before, and at some point she passed out in her bathroom where she was later found with most of her clothes removed. Brantley was seen coming out of the bathroom but denied raping her.

Investigators say a rape kit turned up Brantley’s DNA.
