Man indicted on assault, trafficking charges
Other cases reviewed by the grand jury include a woman accused of trying to smuggle methadone into the Floyd County Jail.
A Rome man was indicted on aggravated assault and cocaine trafficking charges after police said he had approximately 41 grams of cocaine in his hotel room at the Royal Inn in November.
Terrence Devone Wimberly, 36, of 419 Elm St., was among 22 people indicted Friday by the Floyd County grand jury. He is currently being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail on those and other charges.
Among the others indicted are a Floyd County man who is accused of beating and stomping on a woman’s face in December and a Lindale woman who is accused of attempting to smuggle methadone into the jail while she served an intermittent sentence.
Brett Taylor Stephens, 23, of 4 Wynnie Road, is accused of punching the woman with a fist, throwing her to the floor and then stomping her face and head, which broke her nose, according to jail reports. He was indicted on an aggravated battery charge and other charges.
Angela Hoyle, 47, of 208 Park Ave., Lindale, was reporting to the jail to serve the first of four weekends, when officers found a quantity of methadone while patting her down, according to jail reports. She was indicted on a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act charge among other charges.
