Farmers Market returning next week

-

ROCKMART — The Rockmart Farmers Market is quickly nearing its return, and on Thursday, locals will once again be able to purchase farmfresh produce, meats and sweets every Thursday from 2 through 6 p.m. on Water Street.

The market’s return will mark the end of a three-week holiday break, and there are no more planned hiatuses until next winter.

While originally planning to shorten the hours of the winter market, the 2 through 6 p.m. schedule local residents have become accustomed to will be maintained.

Fan favorite vendors will return to sell winter produce such as collards, kale, turnip greens, carrots, cauliflower and much more.

With more time to sell and plenty of vendors selling, market executive director Shonna Kirkpatrick is looking to make 2018 a solid year for local farmers.

“This year at the Rockmart Farmer’s Market, we resolve to continually strive to provide our community the opportunity to buy and sell wholesome, local foods,” Kirkpatrick said.

Also soon to return are the cooking classes. The second installment of 2018’s Kids Cooking Series, where local youth will have an opportunity to practice their hygiene, cutting, and cooking skills on winter themed dishes — will start Tuesday.

The second edition of the six-week cooking course will have students instructed on various cooking techniques and dishes via one lesson per week.
