The Rome African Violet Study
Group will have its annual display and sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Rome Federated Garden Center, 100 E. Eighth St. Loads of blooming plants and other decorative African violet cousins will be available.

The Puryear Detachment of the Marine Corps League will meet Saturday at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 9 a.m., followed by the program at 9:30 a.m. Bill Miller, treasurer of the Marine Corps League Foundation, will speak. Miller, a resident of Cumming, also serves as national comptroller of the Marine Corps League, headquartered in Stafford, Virginia. Guests are welcome. The Rome-Floyd County Recycling Center will host a free Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event for Floyd County residents on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recycling Center, 405 Watters St. The line will form off of Callahan Street across from the Hop N Shop. Drop-off times will be byappointment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments must be made by calling 706-291-5266. The center will stop
taking appointments after reaching 360 vehicles or at 5 p.m. Friday. Those without an appointment, or who miss their scheduled time, will be directed to come back after 2 p.m. unless the center is overbooked.
The third annual A Night to Remember: An Adult Prom
benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association will take place Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Forrest Place Ballroom on Broad Street. The event with a masquerade theme will help fund local programs, services, advocacy and research by the Alzheimer’s Association. The Armuchee Ruritan Club will host the Roman Roast on the
River Car Show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ridge Ferry Park. Registration will be from 8 to 11 a.m.; the registration fee will be $25 per car, with proceeds to sponsor the club’s community projects. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. The club will meet on May 16 at 7 p.m. at New Armuchee Baptist Church, 5385 Martha Berry Highway. Prospective members are invited to attend. Harbin Clinic will host the Walk with a Doc on Saturday at 9 a.m. The walk will leave from Bridgepoint Plaza following the Kingfisher Trail and is approximately 2 miles. People of all fitness levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. Harbin Clinic internists Dr. Amar Singh and Dr. Poonam Singh will lead the group.
