The Renew Our Rivers 2017 cleanup will take place Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Armuchee Creek. The group will meet at New Armuchee Baptist Church, 5385 Martha Berry Highway, for staging, breakfast and a safety talk. Participan­ts should wear boots and long pants. The cleanup will concentrat­e near the cemetery between Martha Berry Highway and Old Summervill­e Road. Boats will not be needed, but volunteers with trucks and winches to remove appliances, sofas and other items will be helpful. There will be plenty of opportunit­ies for people to help clean along the creek and on both sides of the highway. For more informatio­n call 706236-4456. The Northwest Georgia Winds and Guests will present “Across the Big Pond XVII” on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Forum River Center. The

annual gala Celtic concert will include bagpipers, dancers, soloists and more. Admission is $5.

The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a special 2017 springtime Paperback Book Sale in the Oostanaula Room of the RomeFloyd County Library. The sale will be open April 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All regular-size paperbacks will be 25 cents or 5 for a $1. All oversize paperbacks will be 50 cents or 3 for a $1.

The 27th annual Up the Creek Trail and Century Ride will be held April 29. Early registrati­on will be held April 28 from 2-6 p.m. at Cycle Therapy, 27 Central Plaza. The Floyd County Master Gardeners will offer a free community workshop, “Gardening in Containers,” on May 6, beginning at 11 a.m. at Chieftains Museum on Riverside Parkway. New Life Church of God, 210 E. 18th St., will host Third Street Ministries on May 6 as they give away free spring clothing to those in need between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A prayer station will be set up for anyone who needs prayer.

The third annual A Night to Remember: An Adult Prom benefiting the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n will take place May 13 at 8 p.m. at the Forrest Place Ballroom on Broad Street. The event with a masquerade theme will help fund local programs, services, advocacy and research by the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n. The Adult Unit of the RomeFloyd County NAACP will hold its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on June 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lovejoy Life Center, 436 Branham Ave. The program theme is “Together We Are Stronger ...
