Beautiful Baby Contest one of Elk County Fair’s most popular contests
KERSEY - The Beautiful Baby Contest is once again this year one of Elk County Fair’s most popular contests.
The contest will run from Tuesday, Aug. 9 to Saturday, Aug. 13 with the Baby Parade taking place at 5 p.m. Saturday in Exhibit Hall #2.
The winner will be announced following the parade on Saturday at 6 p.m. on the George A. Swanson Memorial Stage.
Ribbons will be given out for the Best Fancy Dressed, Best Country Farm Outfit, Biggest Smile, and the Best Decorated Stroller or Wagon.
According to Fair Treasurer, Rita Gerber, the contestants of the 2022 Elk County Fair Queen Contest will judge the individual ribbon contests.
“You’d be surprised, some people go all out with their costumes and wagons. It’s unbelievable,” Gerber said.
“People really enjoy this contest and the parade.”
Registrants for the Cutest Baby Contest must be from Elk County and must enter with a photo that is no larger than 3x5 inches.
All contestants must be under two years of age as of August 1 of this year and cannot have been a first place winner in previous years.
During the week of the fair, attendees can vote for the babies by putting money into cans under each baby’s displayed photo, which will be on display in Exhibit Hall #1.
To register for the contest, a photo and information about the parents’ names, baby’s name, birthdate, address and telephone number on the back of the photo can be mailed to the Elk County Fair at P.O. Box 225, Kersey, PA 15846.
A photo and information can also be brought to the fair grounds the day of registration on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
