POLICE REPORT
State police at Ridgway Crash
FOX TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 12:16 p.m. on Jan. 28 on Old Kersey Road, south of Beaver Lane within the S bend in Fox Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2008 Ford Taurus (X) operated by Stacie P. Smith, 34, of Kersey, was traveling southbound on Old Kersey Road and failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The Ford then left the roadway and struck a traffic sign. The Ford sustained minor damage to its front end. Smith suffered minor injuries to the head.
DUI
HORTON TWP. – PSP Ridgway report that at 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2021, Brett Fields, 32, of Brockport, was arrested for suspicion of DUI at 25 Howard Road in Horton Township. Fields was later released. Charges will be filed pending blood results.
Fire – undetermined origin
PUNXSUTAWNEY BORO – On Jan. 30 at 3:30 a.m., PSP Fire Marshal Unit was requested to investigate the origin and cause of a fire at 214 West Mahoning St., Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County. The building is a threestory, seven-unit apartment building. An area of origin was established without determining the cause. The fire is undetermined at this time. Total amount of loss was reported to be $235,000. Victims were listed as being Roger Farrah, 67, of Punxsutawney, and Brad Stubbs, 34, of Punxsutawney. The investigation continues.
DUI
ST. MARYS CITY – At 1:29 a.m. on Jan. 30, PSP Ridgway stopped a 2017 Jeep on Brusselles Street/Lehner Avenue in St. Marys City for a traffic violation. The operator, Drake Meyer, 21, of St. Marys, was found to be highly intoxicated and arrested for DUI. Meyer refused a chemical
test and charges for DUI were filed. Crash
HORTON TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 10:14 a.m. on Feb. 2 on SR 219, at its intersection with SR 153 in Horton Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2013 International Harvester Durastar 4300 failed to stop at the stop sign at SR 153 and SR 219. The International Harvester then struck a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder, which was traveling northbound on SR 219, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Crash
JONES TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 9:25 p.m. on Feb. 1 on SR 321, Buena Vista Highway, half a mile north of Twin Lakes Road in Jones Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2019 Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on SR 321 when a deer jumped onto the roadway in front of the vehicle. The operator was not able to avoid hitting the deer. The Dodge sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The operator was wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured.
Criminal mischief
FOX TWP. – PSP Ridgway report being contacted about a criminal mischief incident that occurred at 812 Shelvey Summit Road in Fox Township between noon on Jan. 24 and 1 a.m. on Jan. 25. According to PSP, a vehicle traveled off the roadway, striking a mailbox and a utility pole. The vehicle is described as a dark blue 2019/2020 Chevy Silverado with a damaged front bumper. Listed as being damaged were a black mailbox with wooden post valued at $100, and a wooden painted cutout “angler” valued at $150. Victims were listed as being Walter Beimel, 82, of Kersey, and Windstream of Brookville.
