To Porterville Military Academy cadets Braden Martin and Tyler Mitchell for their accomplishments at the California Cadet Corps’ Advanced Survival Field Training Exercise over the summer in San Luis Obispo. Martin returned with “The Flash,” a lightning bolt added on his red beret as he earned the title of Survival Instructor. Mitchell earned the title of medic and earned a red medical bag.
To 2016 Monache graduate Nick Slater for winning the KJUG Country Talent Showdown at the Tulare County Fair. Slater also earned a chance to play at Alan Jackson’s prestigious A.J.’S Good Time Bar in from of representatives from three record labels.
To the Porterville Fair Board and its staff for being able to pay off the construction of the fairgrounds in full 10 years ahead of schedule.
To Janie Dignam, Kim Cade and all those involved in organizing the End ALSP fundraiser held at the Porterville Fairgrounds that raised more than $20,000 for ALSP medical research. The event was held in honor of Dignam’s son and Cade’s brother, Jeff Cade, who has been diagnosed with ALSP, a rapidly progressive and neurodegenerative disease.
To the 250 volunteers, Home Depot, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their effort in sprucing up the Big Sycamore Trail on Saturday.
To Community Services Employment and Training, CSET, and all those responsible for the Senior Wellness Resource Fair held on Saturday at the Porterville Senior Center and for the reopening of the senior center.
To the Porterville Historical Museum for putting on an outstanding High Tea and Fashion Show and to Frankie Feldman for her work in restoring the fabulous collection of women’s dresses from the 1890’s to 1950’s that she presented at the event.
