⦿ Tule River Parkway Association Event - This Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 9 a.m. until noon there will be a Garden and Restoration Area Maintenance Workday, taking place at the Tule River Native Plant Demonstration Garden Project in Porterville. Garden Adopters will be doing light maintenance on gardens that have already been established. Plants will be added to existing gardens and possibly a new garden will get planted. Restoration area maintenance tasks include willow fence construction with plantings of trees and wildflowers in the fenced area. Wear close-toed shoes and bring gloves and tools if available. Meeting Place: Jaye Street Bridge Parking Lot on the south bank of the Tule River in Porterville. Directions: Go to 463 South Jaye Street and continue south, crossing the Jaye Street Bridge. The event staging area is in a large parking lot accessed from a small driveway at the south end of the Jaye Street Bridge. ⦿ 5th Annual Memorial Rodeo The 5th Annual Memorial Rodeo honoring Larry “Big Larr” Garfeild is set for Saturday, March 21. Registration for rodeo events is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A horseshoe tournament begin at 4 p.m., with rodeo events like calf-riding, steer riding and bull riding beginning at 5 p.m. Registration for children’s event oens at 2 p.m., and the events will begin at 3 p.m Childrens events include stick horse barrell racing, dummy roping and a boot race. There will be drawings for a swimming pool and pool table as well. This rodeo will be eld at Mccarthy Ranch located at 32657 N. Reservation Road.
