Alice Irene Robertson
Alice Irene Robertson passed away November 16, 2017 at the age of 87. Alice was born December 22, 1929 in Big Springs, Texas. She worked as a Grocery Checker at Weingartens’ Grocery Chain in Houston, Texas. She married the love of her life, Ernest Robertson on December 29, 1945 in Houston, Texas when he returned from WW2 and they moved to Porterville in March of 1946. She was baptized in 1951 with the Church of Christ, Hocket Street in the Tule River and was a member of the Porterville Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ernest, both of her parents and all five of her siblings. She is survived by her two children; Carol Ambrosini and Glen Robertson, three grandchildren; Kari Ambrosi ni martin elli, Gary Ambrosi ni and Glen Robertson Jr. and five great grandchildren; Alexander and Stephen Robertson, Chris Martinelli, Kayla Ruiz and Colin Ambrosini.
Alice was a blood donor and served on the election board for many years. She was active in the PTA while her children were in school. Alice worked at Sweet Kist Candy Store, Randolf’s Packing House and the election board. She worked as a Secretary and Bookkeeper for Robertson Construction until his retirement and then worked at CVC as a Grader from 1982 until her retirement in 1992.
She loved to grow and care for flowers and to bake and cook scrumptious meals for the family. Every meal was great, it didn’t matter what it was. She made and canned the best jelly and pies and also made her children’s school clothes. She worked hard to teach her children right from wrong and was there for each of them when they needed her. When the grandchildren came along she did the same for them. She couldn’t have loved them all more.
Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel, Porterville on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Porterville on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
