Josefina V. Garcia, a resident of Visalia, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2107. She was born on July 21, 1935. She was 81.

Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please join us in reciting the rosary on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Church on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment to be private.

Josefina was born in El Paso, Texas to Jose and Luz Valdez on July 21, 1935. She peacefully passed away June 3, 2017, surrounded by her family. She lived in the Terra Bella and Portervill­e area with her family. She was a homemaker and also worked at Good Shepard Home as her children got older. After she retired, she became a foster grandparen­t for years at the Portervill­e Developmen­tal Center. Josefina later moved to Visalia and lived at Oak Meadows for 14 years and enjoyed her friendship­s there. She had a very fruitful life. She received awards and medals for her years of outstandin­g achievemen­t and determinat­ion to help others in need. Moms favorite hobbies were music, dancing, and more dancing as well as water painting, puzzles, novelas and always, always helping others.

Josefina is preceded in death by her mother, Luz Valdez Tapia; father, Jose Valdez; step-father, Jesus Tapia; sisters, Mary Anaya, Carmen Rivera, Rachel Aguayo; brother, Willie (Guillermo) Francisco Valdez and daughter, Sharon Garcia Cargill.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Alvino) Levario, Sam (Lilly) Garcia, Richard (Lilly) Abarquez, Sabrina (Van) Palmer, Lynette (Osbaldo) Uranga, Paul (Renee) Abarquez, Carlos Garcia, Jr. (Debbie) Garcia; sisters, Rosie Armijo, Christine Sanchez and Irene Sagun; brothers, Joe and Raul Valdez. She also leaves behind 23 grandchild­ren, 43 great grandchild­ren and 1 great-great grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly and was very proud of.
