Hike for beginners Harrison Hills Park will offer a hike for beginners on Aug. 31 starting at noon. The hike will be 3 miles and will include moderate changes in elevation. The hike will be led by a park ranger. The park is located at 5200 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Summer office visit State Rep. Dan Miller, D-Mt. Lebanon, will hold the final event in a series of Summer Pop-Up Offices from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Baldwin Township Municipal Building, 10 Community Park Drive. Constituen­ts will have the opportunit­y to learn about available state services as well as discuss the latest state issues with Mr. Miller.

PTSD and women Dr. Elizabeth Spaar will discuss post-traumatic stress disorder as a diagnosis with the focus on women at an Aug. 28 program at the Oakmont Carnegie Library, 700 Allegheny Blvd. Among the issues Dr. Spaar will address at the 6 p.m presentati­on will be research on medical marijuana and psychedeli­c therapies for treating PTSD. Rock the Quarry Rock the Quarry XIX will take place Friday and Saturday on the Panhandle Trail in Collier. The event, which benefits the Collier Friends of the Panhandle Trail, will feature music, science demonstrat­ions, a ducky race, family fun zone, games and crafts, etc. Hours are 5:15 to 11 p.m. Friday and 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday.
