Body found may have been shooting victim

Allegheny County police said the body of a 30-yearold man found Sunday morning in the front yard of a Wilkinsbur­g home may be the victim of a shooting that was reported about 12 hours earlier.

Police on Monday said a 911 call was made about 11:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of gunshots in the 1500 block of Laketon Road. When Wilkinsbur­g police arrived, they found nothing.

About 11:05 a.m. Sunday, the body of a man with at least one gunshot wound was found in the yard of a home in the 1700 block of Montier Street, about a block from where the gunshots were reported.

Allegheny County Police have arrested a 17year-old in the shooting death of Tyrelle Bowyer last week in Wilkinsbur­g.

Brandon McFarland, a Homewood resident who has been living in Rankin recently, is charged as an adult with homicide, tampering with evidence and weapons violations, a county police statement released Monday night said. He was arrested Monday and will be held in the Allegheny County Jail pending arraignmen­t, the release said.

Police released no other informatio­n about the arrest.

Arson suspected in fire that destroyed trailers

Fire officials believe an arsonist set a blaze in Penn Hills that destroyed three commercial trailers Sunday night.

Fire crews were dispatched at 10:13 p.m. to the 1900 block of Universal Road, according to Lt. Tom Kutcher of the Penn Hills Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

Lt. Kutcher said arson is suspected. He said investigat­ors found a can of lighter fluid at the scene.

The blaze began in one commercial trailer before spreading to two others, leaving all three destroyed, according to Lt. Kutcher.

Penn Hills police and EMS, along with the Garden City Fire Department, also responded to the scene, Lt. Kutcher said.
