Mt. Lebanon upends No. 3 Penn-Trafford

Jess Wilhelm scored two goals and Blair Proteau had the other as No. 11 seed Mt. Lebanon recorded its second upset in a row with a 3-2 victory against No. 3 seed PennTraffo­rd in a 4A playoff game at Elizabeth Forward.

Wilhelm has scored in seven consecutiv­e games. The win lifted the Blue Devils’ record to 10-7-2. Penn-Trafford finished at 15-4-1.

Norwin 3, Upper St. Clair 0: Emily Harrigan scored two goals and Alyssa Victor had one as the No. 1 Knights (180-1) blanked the Panthers (11-6) at Elizabeth Forward. Norwin scored all three goals in the second half. Knights goalie Sam Wexell had her 10th shutout of the season.

Canon-McMillan 3, Seneca Valley 1: Sabrina Bryan scored two goals and Annabel Thomas added one as the No. 2 Big Macs (17-0-1) defeated Seneca Valley (13-6-1) at Moon.

Class 3A

Montour 5, South Fayette 0: Senior midfielder Olivia Muha scored three goals and goalkeeper Maura Hickey recorded her 13th shutout of the season as the Spartans (15-2-3) topped the Lions (10-8-2) at Moon. It was the third time the Spartans had blanked the Lions this season.

South Park 4, Hampton 0: Jordyn Minda had a goal and an assist as the No. 2 Eagles (16-1-3) defeated the Talbots (10-9-1) at Canon-McMillan. Carly Pcholinsky, Haleigh Finale and Kylie Tranter also scored for South Park

Class 2A

Freeport 3, Yough 0: Freshman Sidney Shemanski broke a scoreless tie, and Hannah Stokes and Kaylee Comperator­e added insurance goals in the game’s final three minutes as the No. 2 Yellow Jackets (14-3-1) blanked the Cougars (11-7) at Fox Chapel. It was Freeport’s first playoff win since 2008.

Freedom 1, Avonworth 0: Taylor Petroff scored the deciding goal in a shootout as the No. 1 Bulldogs (18-0) edged the Antelopes (12-7-1) at Mars. The teams completed regulation and overtime scoreless, and the Bulldogs outscored their section rivals, 5-4, in penalty kicks. Freedom goalie Jacklyn Hartle had her 12th shutout of the season.

Class 1A

Greensburg Central Catholic 6, Riverside 0: Bailey Cartwright scored four goals and had two assists as the topseeded Centurions (18-1) defeated the Panthers (9-5-2) at Hampton. Cartwright now has scored 57 goals this season, and Centurions’ goalie Bella Skatell recorded her ninth shutout.

Bentworth 3, South Side Beaver 1: Freshman Paige Marshalek scored her 31st goal of the season, and senior Bea Kossel had two goals as the No. 2 Bearcats (17-1) defeated the Rams (11-8-1) at Peters Township.

Vincentian 4, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 1: Junior Lauren Donnelly and sophomore Liz Gorman each scored two goals as the No. 4 Royals (14-2-2) defeated the Chargers (12-4) at Deer Lakes.

Shady Side Academy 5, Carlynton 0: Elizabeth Harper and Krystyna Rytel scored two goals each as the No. 3 Indians (14-3) blanked the Cougars (13-4-2) at Fox Chapel. Eliza Cochran added a goal and an assist.
