Dodgers: OF Mookie Betts was placed on the injured list Wednesday because of a sore right hip. Betts left Friday’s game in the sixth due to right hip discomfort. He played Saturday and then sat out Sunday. He’s batting .277 with 17 HRs and 44 RBIs in 87 games for the defending World Series champions. “Hopefully with some rest, he’ll respond well,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. Roberts also said Betts would fly back to Los Angeles from Philadelphia and meet with doctors Thursday. “We’re going to have some more experts chime in to try to figure this thing out,” Roberts said. Betts, 28, winner of the 2018 AL MVP while with the Red Sox, agreed last season to a 12-year, $365 million contract through 2032. Betts helped lead the Dodgers to their first World Series title since 1988.

White Sox: All-Star LHP Carlos Rodon was placed on the 10-day IL with arm soreness. Rodon, 28, considered an AL Cy Young Award candidate for the Central Division leaders, is 9-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 19 starts and could be out longer than the required 10 days. “We’re going to err on the side of caution so it seems to me that’s overly optimistic,” White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. “If it happens, great, if it doesn’t, we’ll be patient.” Rodon reported the soreness Tuesday while the team was in Minnesota for a road series. He flew back to Chicago and is being checked by doctors to determine if it’s something more serious than fatigue. The club doesn’t believe so.

Braves: Catcher Travis d’Arnaud returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated him from the IL.

D’Arnaud missed 86 games with a left thumb sprain. He was placed on the IL on May 2. “It’s been a long three and a half months,” said d’Arnaud, who was in Wednesday’s lineup against the Reds. “To come back with the guys trending upward is super exciting. I’m very fortunate.”

Brewers: RHP John Curtiss was placed on the IL with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow less than two weeks after the NL Central leaders acquired him in a trade with the Marlins. Curtiss, 28, is 0-0 with a 12.46 ERA in six games with the Brewers after going 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 35 with the Marlins.

Yankees: Luke Voit had a two-run single in a threerun first inning and the Yankees beat the host Royals 5-2. It was the Yankees’ 12th straight series victory over the Royals. Chad Green (6-5) got the victory in relief as the Yankees took two of three. Zach Britton earned his first save of the season. Yankees starter Lucas Luetge made his first career start after making 152 career appearances as a reliever. He allowed one run on two hits in two innings.

Astros: Aledmys Díaz had three hits and drove in three runs to help the Astros beat the visiting Rockies 5-1. Díaz tied it with an RBI single in the first and gave the Astros the lead with a run-scoring single in the third. The Astros were up by three in the seventh when he sent home another run with a double to make it 5-1. Díaz has has 19 hits and 14 RBIs in the last 13 games after missing about six weeks with a fractured hand. The Astros’ Framber Valdez (8-3) allowed four hits and one run while striking out eight in six innings.
