GIRLS BASKETBALL REGION FINALS
Girls basketball district runners-up are still running wild in the postseason.
Seminole and Winter Park, which meet tonight, lost in district title games but bounced back with two region victories — as did Dr. Phillips and Bishop Moore. All are now one win from reaching their state Final 4s.
Region finals start at 7 p.m. Admission is $7.
Tonight: Class 8A
Seminole (24-5) at Winter Park (23-6)
■ Buzz: Four players average at least 10 points per game for Seminole, led by Aniquah Swan (13.7). Winter Park has held three of its past four opponents to 41 points. ■ Dr. Phillips (14-15) at Vero Beach (23-1) ■ Buzz: Panthers opened season 3-12 before turning season around. Megan Gorman averages 19.2 points and 14.6 rebounds for Vero Beach.
Class 7A
Winter Haven (22-3) at Lake Nona (24-6)
■ Buzz: Winter Haven is 18-1 in region play over seven seasons. . Daniella Hatcher averages 15.9 points and 6.6 rebounds for Lake Nona.
Class 6A
Seffner Armwood (19-3) at Edgewater (20-5)
■ Buzz: Taynia Gordon leads Armwood with 15.4 points per game. Four players average more than 10 for Edgewater, led by Victoria Patrick (15.8).
Class 5A
Bishop Moore (23-6) at Plantation American Heritage (24-5)
■ Buzz: Bishop Moore is 4-3 in past seven road games with losses to Flagler Palm Coast, Winter Park and Leesburg.
Saturday: Class 4A
Astronaut (18-9) at Lake Highland (26-3)
■ Buzz: Astronaut is led by Kiara Cadore (14.6 ppg). Three players average more than 11 points for LHP, led by Jordan Lewis (18.1).
Class 2A
Land O’ Lakes Academy at the Lakes (25-3) at Ormond Beach Calvary Christian (18-10)
■ Buzz: .Calvary is in the postseason for the seventh time.
